An opinion piece featured in today’s Herald Sun lays bare the contempt the Allan Government shows toward Victoria’s firefighters.
Written by professional firefighter, it details how he asked legitimate questions on social media about fire service funding — backed by the government’s own numbers — and how he was met with dismissal and ridicule by Treasurer Jaclyn Symes who even laughed about funding cuts.
When firefighters raise concerns about their safety and their ability to protect Victorians, they deserve to be listened to — not laughed at or brushed aside.
This is not leadership. It is arrogance, and it puts community safety at risk.
Firefighters will continue to speak out until the Allan Government, and especially Treasurer Jaclyn Symes, starts treating frontline workers and public safety with the respect they deserve.
