Victoria’s farmers are doing it tough — battling drought, rising costs, crumbling roads and endless red tape. So what does Jacinta Allan’s Government do? It slaps on a massive new Emergency Services Levy.
According to the Victorian Farmers Federation’s State of the State Survey, 86% of farmers are “very concerned”about the levy, making it their number one issue. More than 9 in 10 farmers say the Government doesn’t understand or support them.
One Gippsland farmer put it bluntly:
“The new levy is unfair and unaffordable. Most farmland is mortgaged, and the value of it has no bearing on our ability to earn an income.”
Farmers feed Victoria and keep our regions alive. Instead of backing them, this Government is draining them dry.
Enough is enough.
Jacinta Allan must scrap the unfair levy and start listening to the people who put food on our tables.
