Former Emergency Services Minister and now Treasurer, Jaclyn Symes, lets the cat out of the bag.

The ‘Emergency Services’ Tax, introduced using the Good name of Emergency Services personnel, will be going up each year.

This tax will see every Victorian impacted to plug holes in the State Governments budget. Despite the increased tax, CUTS are forecast for FRV, CFA, SES and many other agencies.

City of Wodonga Want Action! Stop the Tax!

The City of Wodonga have requested that Jacinta Allan’s New Emergency Services ‘Tax’ be placed on the upcoming Municipal Association of Victoria Conference Agenda.
Well done to Wodonga Council for advocating strongly on behalf of their community, particularly noting the extra financial burden it will place on them.
This new tax impacts every single Victorian, yet despite its introduction Jacinta Allan has forecast CUTS to our Emergency Services this year, as per the Government Gazette of 30 May 2025.

The city of greater Bendigo joined other councils at a summit organised to oppose the state governments emergency service fund. The fund has been labelled (Tax Grab) which local councils are being forced to collect. We must keep the pressure on to get this wrongful tax to be consigned to history.

This is a doubling of what was paid under the Fire Service Levy.
The good names of Emergency Service Personnel have been used to justify this tax, it is wrong and duplicitous.
Jacinta Allan is asking Victorians to pay an extra tax for services that were already funded, to cover up black holes in the Budget.

Rural Councils want to make sure all rate payers know exactly how much the dishonest Emergency Service Levy is costing them! The levy is a dishonest tax that the Government is forcing by legislation councils to collect against their will because they know the tax is wrongful! Scrap the Tax now!

The Community of Werribee turned out today to say, enough is enough. Scrap the Tax!

The community, firefighters, farmers, business folk and many others from Werribee today turned out in numbers to rally against the wrongful Emergency Services Levy. It is of note that the Local Member John Lister didnt even bother to show his face. Was he ordered not to attend by Premier Allen and Treasure Jacklyn Symes or, and perhaps as well does he simply not care about the terrible impact he and all sitting labor members has caused to the people of Werribee with the introduction of this wrongful and misleading tax! Stop the Tax!

Merribek Council Opposes the Tax! City of Merri-bek opposes the Emergency Services and Volunteers Fund (ESVF) and calls for emergency services to be funded through the State Government’s consolidated revenue fund instead.

Cynically, the State Government has used the names of farmers, career firefighters, volunteer firefighters and fire service support staff to justify this tax grab to the wider public.
